Treat water to standard, recover what you can, waste less.

From pre-treatment to ZLD, from sludge to energy, Glorinda engineers water, wastewater and waste systems that meet tightening discharge limits, recover water for reuse and cut the cost and footprint of every litre and every tonne.

Environment overview

Water is a process input, a discharge liability and a cost — we treat all three.

Environmental services are one of Glorinda’s core activities. We provide industrial and municipal water and wastewater treatment, seawater desalination, sludge management and waste management — as engineering, procurement, integration and turnkey packages.

Our focus is maximising water recovery and minimising environmental impact by avoiding outdated methods and using advanced, efficient systems. We design each process around the real stream: its volume, its contaminants and the client’s discharge and reuse goals.

The economics usually turn on how far up the recovery curve it is worth going. Minimum Liquid Discharge recovers around 85% of a stream using conventional RO, closed-circuit RO and high-efficiency RO — a cost-effective alternative to thermal evaporation, and the right answer for most sites. Zero Liquid Discharge takes recovery close to 100% and leaves essentially nothing to discharge, but it costs more to run. We size that decision against your permit, your water cost and your expansion plans rather than defaulting to the most complete solution available.

Two capabilities sit underneath most of our work here. Our adsorbent systems remove up to 90% of COD through a simple flow-through process without electricity, take out heavy metals including up to 99.5% of lead, and address cyanide, pesticides, silica, ammoniacal nitrogen and colour — while producing under 1% waste against roughly 30% for RO, and regenerating on site for hundreds of cycles. And Glorinda Resins, our own subsidiary, supplies the ion exchange, mixed bed and EDI media that take recovered water to ultrapure quality for reuse in boilers, cooling and process.

Value chain

An integrated approach, from pre-treatment to output

We design processes around individual requirements, broadly in these stages.

  • 01

    Pre-treatment

Physical, chemical and biological treatment — DAF, RO, UF, membrane and adsorbent steps that reduce load and cost downstream.

  • 02

    Main treatment

Biological and membrane treatment (incl. AnaeroMBR and MBR) to remove COD, BOD, solids and nutrients.

  • 03

    Water recovery

MLD for ~85% recovery, or ZLD for near-100% recovery where discharge is restricted or water is scarce.

  • 04

    Post-treatment

Ion exchange, mixed bed, EDI and AOP to reach ultrapure quality for reuse in boilers, cooling and process.

  • 05

    Sludge & output

Dewatering, drying, THP and incineration — turning residual sludge into biogas, compost, fuel or safe cake.

Typical applications

  • Boiler feed water treatment
  • Cooling tower blowdown recovery
  • Condensate polishing
  • Demineralised & ultrapure water
  • Process water treatment
  • High-COD industrial wastewater
  • FGD & ash-handling wastewater
  • Landfill leachate treatment
  • Seawater desalination
  • Municipal sewage treatment
  • Water reuse & recycling
  • Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE)

Common challenges we solve

  • Discharge limits tightening faster than existing plant can meet
  • No room to expand because water intake or discharge is capped
  • High-TDS or high-COD streams that conventional treatment can’t handle
  • Rising cost of freshwater, chemicals and waste disposal
  • Sludge volumes growing as treatment improves
  • ESG and water-footprint targets with no clear route to reuse

Frequently asked

Do you treat both industrial and municipal water?

Yes. Glorinda engineers industrial water and wastewater, municipal sewage treatment and seawater desalination, as packages or turnkey projects.

How much water can we realistically recover?

It depends on the stream, but MLD typically recovers around 85% cost-effectively, and ZLD targets near-100% where discharge is restricted or water is scarce.

Can you meet our specific discharge limits?

We design to your permit. The process is selected from the contaminant profile and the discharge or reuse target, not from a fixed template.

Do you handle sludge as well as water?

Yes. Sludge dewatering, drying, thermal hydrolysis (THP) and incineration are part of the offering, turning residual sludge into biogas, compost or fuel where possible.
