Recover high-value product
Whey protein, sweeteners, amino acids, polyphenols and more — turned from waste into saleable product.
Food & Pharma · Separation
From chromatography to whey-protein recovery, Glorinda’s separation technology — backed by Glorinda Resins — purifies, concentrates and recovers high-value products across food, beverage, biotech and pharmaceutical production.
What problem does it solve?
Separation is where waste becomes product and purity is won. These are the drivers behind a separation project.
Benefits
Whey protein, sweeteners, amino acids, polyphenols and more — turned from waste into saleable product.
Chromatography, ion exchange and adsorption for bio-pharma separation and solid-phase peptide synthesis.
Glorinda Resins supplies ion-exchange, chromatography, chelating and adsorbent media, plus enzyme and peptide carriers.
Tailored, integrated separation packages engineered for each customer’s process.
Recovering organics and proteins cuts the cost and volume of waste disposal.
After-sales resin screening, process optimisation and troubleshooting from our technical team.
How it works
We characterise the stream and the target molecule, select the media and configuration, and integrate the separation step into the wider process.
Define the target molecule, the matrix and the purity and yield goals.
Choose ion-exchange, chromatography, chelating or adsorbent media from 200+ types.
Design fixed-bed, SMB or membrane configuration for the separation.
Recover, concentrate and polish the product to specification.
Screen resins, optimise the process and support operation after start-up.
Engineering detail
In food, beverage and pharmaceutical production, the difference between a waste stream and a product line is frequently a separation step. Cheese whey is the clearest example: a high-quality protein source that many plants still pay to dispose of, when membrane and chromatographic separation can turn it into a saleable protein product with a real market price.
The technology choice depends on what is being separated and how pure it has to be. Ion exchange handles charged species and is the workhorse for deashing, decolourisation and demineralisation. Process chromatography — ion exchange, size exclusion and adsorption — separates molecules of similar size or charge where a simple resin bed cannot, and is what makes amino-acid purification, sweetener refinement and biopharmaceutical separation possible. Simulated moving bed systems raise throughput and cut solvent consumption on continuous duty. Membranes handle the bulk concentration steps ahead of any of these.
Behind all of it sits media selection, and this is where Glorinda Resins matters. Over 200 media types are available — ion exchange, adsorbent, chelating, chromatography media, agarose, powder resins, solid-phase peptide carriers and immobilised-enzyme carriers — and the right one is identified by screening against your actual feed rather than by catalogue.
The quality control behind that supply is deliberately extensive: Mastersizer particle-size analysis, specific surface area and pore size determination, FTIR spectrometry, COD measurement, Agilent HPLC, resin strength testing, moisture analysis, acid-base titration, AKTA purification and ICP elemental analysis. In a GMP environment, being able to evidence media consistency matters as much as the separation performance itself.
