Overview

Fossil-fuel power — more efficiency, less waste, cleaner water.

Glorinda offers a full range of engineering, procurement and upgrades for turbine- and engine-based systems, plus waste-heat recovery via HRSG. Our goal is to eliminate the waste of valuable non-renewable resources and improve efficiency across the plant.

A modern power plant is also a water plant. We deliver boiler feed water treatment, demineralised water production, condensate polishing, cooling-tower blowdown recovery, FGD wastewater treatment and ash-handling wastewater treatment — keeping the steam cycle healthy and the site compliant.

Our approach

Efficiency is usually a water problem in disguise

When an operating thermal plant loses efficiency, the diagnosis is frequently written up as a mechanical issue when the root cause is water. Hardness and silica scale boiler tubes and cut heat transfer. Poor condensate quality carries metallic impurities back into the cycle. Cooling-water fouling degrades condenser performance and forces the whole plant to burn more fuel for the same output.

Glorinda therefore treats a fossil-plant upgrade as two linked scopes. On the mechanical side we engineer and upgrade turbine- and engine-based systems and add heat-recovery steam generation to capture energy that is currently going up the stack. On the water side we deliver demineralised water production, boiler feed water treatment, condensate polishing and cooling-tower blowdown recovery.

Two effluent streams deserve specific attention because conventional treatment does not handle them. FGD wastewater carries sulfate, chloride, heavy metals and high TDS from the desulfurization scrubber. Ash-handling water carries high suspended solids and inorganic contaminants. Both need advanced treatment, and where discharge is restricted or the site is water-stressed, both are candidates for ZLD.

FAQ

Good to know

Do you build new fossil plants or upgrade existing ones?

Both engineering and upgrades. We improve turbine- and engine-based systems for efficiency and add heat recovery, acting as EPC/EPCM contractor or Owner’s Engineer rather than self-performing civil construction.

Can you handle FGD and ash-handling wastewater?

Yes. These complex streams — high in sulfate, chloride, heavy metals and TDS — are treated with advanced treatment and, where discharge is restricted, ZLD.

What water quality can you produce for the steam cycle?

Demineralised and ultrapure water via RO, ion exchange, mixed bed and EDI, with condensate polishing to protect turbine and boiler.
